‘Create & Inspire 2014′ Competition Winners Explore Brazil
Artistic thrill in Brazil.
12 winners of the ‘Create & Inspire’ competition from the UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have had the experience of a lifetime in Brazil. The team collaborated with various local art scenes in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Ouro Preto, Inhotim, Belo Horizonte, Serra do Cipó, Cachoeira and Salvador. Starting in Sao Paulo and Rio with local photographer, Gui Mohallem, the team learned about key principles of photography and met with the Brazilian art collective, Ambientes Infláveis, who are famous for their urban inflatable tunnel designs. After, they journeyed to Ouro Preto, the UNESCO world heritage site, full of gorgeous, oppulant baroque architecture. There, they visited Inhotim, the 5000 acre contemporary art museum. The competition winners experienced an artistic journey unlike no other, and they clearly were inspired, with some 7500 photographs taken, several short films made, an exhibition featuring the art inspired from this trip is already in the making. ‘Create & Inspire’ is a popular international art competition held by the Crossway Foundation, in partnership with Art Jameel and Qatar Museums, and supported by Saudi Aramco, the British Council and Etihad Airways.
